An autism assessment includes the completion of screening questionnaires, as well as NICE recommended gold-standard assessment tools: the ADI-R (completed via telephone with parents/guardians), and the ADOS-2 (completed face-to-face with the child/young person in clinic). We also review information provided by school/college and mental/physical health professionals.
An ADHD assessment involves a review of Conners-4 screening questionnaires, information provided by school/college and physical/mental health professionals, as well as completion of the ACE v2 assessment with parents/guardians, school and, if appropriate, the child/young person. Your child/young person will also complete a QbCheck face-to-face in clinic.
An autism assessment involves the completion of screening questionnaires, a developmental history (by yourself or someone who knew you well in childhood), and a clinical interview called the AAA. The AAA asks about your own internal experience, from childhood and adulthood, including experiences of masking/camouflaging. This is usually completed face-to-face in clinic. The AAA is also completed with informants, including, if possible, someone who knew you well in childhood, and someone who knows you well in adult. If required, an ADOS-2 is also completed.
An ADHD assessment involves the completion of screening questionnaires, a developmental history (by yourself or someone who knew you well in childhood), and the completion of the DIVA-5 interview, face-to-face in clinic. The DIVA-5 is also completed with an informant who knows you well. A QbCheck will be offered if appropriate.
All assessments will include a comprehensive feedback discussion, where you will have opportunity to ask any questions related to your assessment and the outcome. A diagnostic report will be sent within 2-3 weeks following the last appointment. The report includes post-diagnostic recommendations.
